Ah, the child's mind. It is a world unto itself. And usually contains dinosaurs or fairies.
But what happens when you ask grown-up bloggers and authors what they imagine their minds looks like? I wondered... So I asked the good people of Goodreads!
James Minter
Somewhere between a ragbag collection of wire-like tendrils criss-crossing, going hither and thither with occasional clumps or mass in a space which moves or reshapes itself depending on my mood, emotion, driver, or state of alcohol consumption. A cloud-like object that defies my control yet works with, and for me.

Terrica Duncan
I imagine that mind looks like an old furnace with puffs of smoke sputtering out its sides while a well-dressed mouse sits atop it, throwing coal as well as lumps of cheese in it. I guess that would be the reason for me being so off. The little mouse is sabotaging my thought machine!

Bob
I think all minds are loosely anchored paths, held in place by the smallest of creatures, which lead to the inner workings of the universe.
*Click here to check out Bob's Goodreads page about his book of free form verse, titled "Living in the Event Horizon of a Big Mud Hole."
Orinoco Womble
I see my mind as a big round room, full of bits and pieces and stacks of books and comfortable chairs. Actually, now that I "look" closely, the room is underground, more a burrow than a room! Lots of colorful fabrics and warm tones.
Theresa
I imagine my mind is like a black hole with unexpected bursts of vivid colors like fireworks. No one can predict when it will happen or how long it will last and darkness reigns again.
*Click here to find out about Theresa's book series, "War of Destiny."
Effie
My mind is like a rollercoaster. Always running, looping, jumping from one thought to another. My mind is always racing with ideas.
*Click here to see Effie's book, "Evanthia's Gift: Book One in The Gift Sage: Volume 1."
Groovy Lee
I imagine my brain to be like one, enormous, wizard-of-Oz tornado that's always swirling mightily with thoughts from, "what do I have to take care of today", all the way to, "how am I going to write that story?" Sometimes I have to calm the wind down to a breeze so I can think more clearly and separate fiction from fact. Things like: "You're a size two"--fiction. "The car needs an oil change"--fact. "Your stories are not autobiographical--you wish!"--fact! "Dinner's burning...
I'm so glad I can control my whirlwind. When I hush it down, only then can I retrieve my next novel to work on.
*Click here to see Groovy Lee's books, including "Good Girl," and "Colors in the Dark."
Jim Vuksic
I would describe my mind as always open to new and interesting experiences and knowledge. That said; it is also very disciplined when it comes to assigning a higher priority to activities that should be done versus those I would rather do. My four adult children would describe it quite differently. They consider my mind to be a treasure trove of useless information.
*Click here to find out more about Jim and his debut novel, "Levels."
Mr V.W. Singer
I see my mind as a gigantic cauldron of bubbling stew that is forever simmering and always having fresh ingredients tossed in every day. The flavour of the stew just gets richer and better with every addition, and simply ladling through the stew brings up new and interesting combinations of ideas.
*Click here for V.W. Singer's Goodreads page and adult-only books.
Faye Hall
I imagine my mind is an old world town full of hand built wooden shops, towns with dirt streets, horse drawn carriages with huge station houses that breed dragons instead of cattle and gardens similar to the Secret Garden but full of faeries and elves...and a personal cook that supplies constant dishes of chocolate desserts and pork main dishes...
My eldest son tells me his mind is full of Animatronics similar to the Five Nights at Freddy's games but with minecraft buildings and abilities to regenerate so death never exists and everyone who are humans can live on homemade pies, mince burgers and chocolate.

Mark
My mind is a constant stream of consciousness with bubbles of thoughts that form into momentary reality. The ebb and flow of insight change as the underwater boulders and rocks disrupt the surface of my thinking. I only hope that thoughts that I need for the future are not swept away in the nightime currents.
*Click her to find out about Mark's debut novel, "The Flame."
Libby
Whereas I see my mind a bit more like porridge, especially after a day tapping away at the keyboard, trying to bring a story into shape. A bit mushy, looks kinda funny, but hey, gets the job done.
*Click here for Libby's Goodreads page and information on her romance novels.
Chris
Not so much a Memory/Mind Palace as a Memory/Mind Garbage/Scrapyard. Little is understood in the moment, and everything goes in bins of seemingly related material to be sorted later when the bin is full of diffuse pieces of confusing life related puzzles. Eureka moments happen when a bin of bits of life is full enough for everything to come together in clear understanding... of what could have been, if only I had understood in the moment, when it mattered. A slowly processing memory Scrapyard, acute only eventually, far far to late to effect events and achieve good outcomes for anyone.
It is hoped that good stories can result, though.
